VBank Account Opening Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Download the VBank App

  • Visit the App Store (for iPhone) or Google Play Store (for Android).

  • Search for “VBank” by VFD Microfinance Bank.

  • Install and open the app.

Step 2: Tap “Sign Up”

  • On the welcome screen, tap Sign Up to begin.

  • Choose how you want to register:

    • I have BVN

    • I have NIN

    • I have BVN & NIN
      (You can choose either or both, providing both helps you unlock higher limits instantly.)

Step 3: Identity Verification

  • Enter your BVN or NIN as selected.

  • The app will verify your details securely.

  • If both are provided, your account automatically upgrades to Tier 2 once you complete the setup (higher transaction limits).

  • If verification fails, you can continue and retry later.

Step 4: Email Address

  • Enter a valid email address you have access to.

  • Check your inbox for a 6-digit OTP from VBank.

  • Enter it in the app to verify your email.

  • If you didn’t get it, tap Resend OTP

Step 5: Phone Number

  • Enter your phone number.

  • You’ll receive a 6-digit OTP via SMS.

  • Enter it to verify your number.

Step 6: Liveness Check (Selfie Verification)

  • Allow camera access when prompted.

  • Take a clear selfie in a well-lit area.

  • The app checks it against your BVN/NIN photo to confirm your identity.

  • If it fails, try again, make sure your face is visible and you’re in good lighting.

Step 7: Residential Address

  • Fill in your residential address.

  • Confirm or edit it if necessary.

Step 8: Source of Income

  • Select your employment type (e.g., Business Owner, Salary Earner, Student, etc.).

  • Enter other related details like business line, occupation, or income range.

Step 9: Create a Secure Password

  • Choose a password that:

    • Has at least 8 characters

    • Includes one capital letter, one number, and one special symbol

  • Re-enter the password to confirm.

  • You’ll see a strength bar (Weak / Medium / Strong).

Step 10: Set Your 4-Digit Transaction PIN

  • This PIN protects all your transactions.

  • Avoid using your date of birth or simple sequences.

  • Choose a number you’ll easily remember but others can’t guess.

Step 12: Account Number Creation

  • Once all steps are complete, your new VBank account number is generated instantly.

  • You’ll see a welcome message:
     “Congratulations! Your account number is [XXXXXXXXXX].”

  • Your current Tier and Transaction Limit

  • You’ll also receive confirmation via email.

Step 13: Upgrade Your Account (Optional)

  • To unlock higher limits:

    • Tier 2: Provide both BVN and NIN.

    • Tier 3: Verify your residential address through OkHi (live location) or upload a proof of address (like an electricity bill or waste bill not older than 3 months).

Note:

Your VBank account is ready to use you can:

  • Send and receive money,

  • Set up savings goals,

  • Pay bills,

  • And explore all the amazing VBank features.

If You Exit Midway

  • Don’t worry if you close the app before finishing.

  • When you return, tap Sign Up. The app will remember where you stopped and continue from that point.
