Proximity Payments FAQS
1. What is Proximity Payment?
Proximity Payment allows you to send or receive money instantly from another nearby VBank user using the VBank App. Both users must have the Proximity Payment screen open for the transaction to work. This feature requires both the sender and receiver to have the proximity payment screen open, and may utilize NFC or Bluetooth technology.
2. How does Proximity Payment work?
The feature uses short-range communication (such as NFC or Bluetooth) to detect nearby users who have enabled the feature.
To complete a transaction:
The sender selects Pay
The receiver selects Receive
Both users confirm the transaction in-app
3. Who can use Proximity Payment?
Only VBank users with an active VBank account
4. Do both users need internet access?
Yes. Both devices must have:
Active internet connection
Bluetooth or NFC enabled (if required by device)
Proximity detection works locally, but transaction processing requires internet access.
5. How close do we need to be?
Users must be physically near each other (within short-range distance, typically a few meters). If the other user does not appear, move closer and ensure both have selected the correct option (Pay or Receive).
6. Is Proximity Payment secure?
Yes. Transactions require:
Manual user selection
Amount confirmation
Transaction PIN authentication
No payment can be processed without PIN authorization.
7. Can I accidentally pay the wrong person?
Unlikely. You must:
Select the correct name from the nearby list
Confirm the amount
Enter your transaction PIN
Always verify the recipient’s name before confirming.
8. Is there a transaction limit?
Yes. Proximity Payments are subject to your account tier/daily transfer limits.
9. Are there fees for using Proximity Payment?
Fees follow the standard VBank transfer fee model. Check the app’s transaction summary before confirming.
10. What happens if the transaction fails?
If the transaction fails:
The sender will see a failure notification
No funds will be debited (or funds will be automatically reversed if partially processed)
If funds are debited without confirmation, contact Customer Support immediately.
11. Can I use Proximity Payment to send to multiple users?
Currently, payments are processed per recipient. You must complete each transaction individually.
12. Can I cancel a payment after sending?
Once confirmed with your transaction PIN and successfully processed, the payment cannot be reversed.
13. Why can’t I see the other user?
Possible reasons:
They haven’t selected Receive
Bluetooth/NFC is off
You are not close enough
Internet connection is weak
App is outdated
Ensure both users reopen the Proximity screen if detection fails.
14. Does the recipient need to approve the payment?
Yes. The recipient must accept the payment before funds are transferred.
15. Will I get a transaction receipt?
Yes. Both sender and receiver will receive:
In-app confirmation
Transaction history record
Notification (push/email/sms depending on settings)
16. Can I use this feature for business payments?
Yes, provided both parties use VBank and comply with transaction limits. For large or recurring payments, standard transfers may be more appropriate.
17. Is this different from regular bank transfers?
Yes. Proximity Payment:
Does not require account number entry
Works through nearby device detection
Is designed for quick, in-person transactions.
